We were home from Tennessee for two days and we packed up the boys and we all headed to Colorado Springs for the 4th of July!
I have to admit I was a wee tiny bit (ok, a lot of a bit) anxious about the plane ride with Walker. He is 16 months old and is into EVERYTHING. He is also into destroying everything he touches. Thankfully, things went a LOT smoother than I thought they would...thanks to Dum Dum Suckers and Elmo. Whew!
We had to get up at 4 a.m. to head to the airport for our 6 a.m. flight...we took a BIG family nap the afternoon we got to The Broadmoor where we were staying. Here are my cuties snuggling after we all woke up!
Walker posing on our balcony. I heart the mountains!
The Fourth of July is super fun at The Broadmoor. So many family friendly activities! Jackson went fishing with Renzi (see pic), they also had paddleboat races where you tried to gather as many rubber duckies in the lake. Renzi and Jackson got second place in their heat! We also played, Guess the Weight of the Watermelon, saw a Magic Show and played Bingo!
Jackson and I snuggling outside in the Colorado Mountain air!
As luck would have it, my Aunt Barbara and Uncle Chris from North Carolina just happened to be visiting Colorado Springs so they stopped by on the 4th for breakfast and a walk. So fun to spend family time with them!
The main activity we all engaged in was...swimming! We swam and swam and swam. Walker swam so much that this is pretty much how he ended up most days as I strolled him back to our room for a nap. Poor baby just couldn't wait for his nap!
We also spent time eating at lots of the wonderful restaurants at The Broadmoor. This was right before our dinner at The Tavern. My cute boys!
We also got to do a "Behind the Scenes" Zoo tour. It may have been one of the coolest things I have ever done! We got to ride on golf carts with two guides and we fed Tigers, Rhinos, saw the new Lion exhibit, fed Otters, Penguins and Giraffes.
Here is Renzi with Walker feeding a rhino! Their mouths are so gross but their teeth are WAY far back in their mouths.
And here is Jackson giving it a try!
Just a couple of dudes hanging with a giraffe.
The giraffe's tongues are so flipping long! And dry and scratchy!
Our friends Bob and Heather Ross and their kiddos Lilly and Frank were also at The Broadmoor and they are the ones who organized the zoo trip. Here are the kiddos after we were finished!
The four adults all went to dinner the last night so the boys had room service before the babysitter came. French fries, grilled cheese and milk. These boys have it rough! Ha!
And then...on our way home...Jackson lost his second tooth in the Dallas airport! Two bottom teeth now gone. I wish I could keep him 5 years old forever!
Great family vacation! Can't wait to travel on another adventure with my babies again soon!
