Eating me out of house and home....and not sleeping.

Yup....that's right....my little man is eating EVERYTHING in sight these days.....and has apparently decided that since his now a one year old, that he doesn't need to sleep through the night anymore...something he has done since 6 weeks of age....and he seems to feel the need to NOT sleep in his crib anymore, but rather, snuggle up next to mom and dad in our bed, except it's not really snuggling up next to us....sidenote: why do kids sleep horizontal and not vertical like the rest of us? I can't tell you how many times I have woken up to Jackson's feet in my face.

I digress....

When we went to Colorado a couple of weeks ago, we promptly went to the grocery store to stock up on baby food and people food. Jackson had still been eating mushy food that we fed to him and then one meal that he fed himself (usually dinner and it was a Gerber entree or something of the sort), but for the most part he was happy to have us feed him. Well, as soon as we landed he must have decided that baby food was for babies and that he was a big boy. Now, he won't let us feed him AT ALL. He has to do it. As a result, this is what he looks like after feeding himself most meals. This was a particularly messy meal of chicken and black beans. Oh, and he ate the ENTIRE chicken breast in one meal.

I am assuming that he is eating more because is so much more mobile and he is burning more calories daily.....but does anyone know why the kiddo isn't sleeping like he used to? Or have any suggestions?

Happy 1st Birthday Jackson James!

Jackson turned 1 yesterday and he had a GREAT birthday party! We had soooo many wonderful people who came and everyone had a great time. The kiddos swam for the first part of the party and then we all headed inside to watch Jackson eat his birthday cupcakes....as you can see from the picture black icing may not have been the best idea. :) He seemed to really like the chocolate cupcake (he gets that from his momma!). After a quick bath, Jackson got to open his birthday presents and he got so many wonderful presents! He will be having fun for a really long time with all of his new toys. Thank you to everyone who came to the party and thank you for being such wonderful blessings in our lives!

My baby boy is 1 this weekend!

It is so hard to believe that Jackson is going to be 1 this Sunday, August 31st. This year has flown by so fast and it has been so fun to watch him grow and develop over the last year. Renzi and I are so blessed that God chose us to be Jackson's parents.  It's hard to believe that our little boy has gone from 5 lbs. 5 oz and 18.5 inches to 21 lbs. and 31 inches long in a year. WOW!

We are having a birthday party for Jackson this Sunday at our house. Jackson loves to swim so we decided to have a swim party for his friends and our friends and family. Uncle Grant and Aunt Brooke are coming into town this evening and will be here to share in the festivities this weekend as well as many other family members and friends. It is going to be a great weekend! I will post pictures from the birthday after Sunday.

Thanks to everyone for their support and love over the past year. We are so blessed to have each of you in our lives!

We just got back from our official first family summer trip! We went to Breckenridge, Colorado for 8 days and it was fabulous. We rented a house in the mountains and just relaxed and spent time together as a family. (Renzi didn't even bring his Blackberry...WOAH! :)

Jackson did really well with the altitude and only seemed to have a little trouble with his ears popping on our drive from Denver to Breck. Other than that, he was a GREAT traveler!

On Wednesday evening of our trip,  AJ and Allison Jack flew to Breckenridge and we all stayed together until Sunday. We had such a good time catching up, eating, laying around, and spending time outside. We even got a babysitter Friday night and the four of us went out to eat at this GREAT place in town.

All in all it was a wonderful time and I feel so blessed that we were able to take such a long trip together! :) Our next trip is next month when we travel to D.C. and Boston. Renzi has a work trip and Jackson and I are tagging  along...we are going to get to spend time with his dad, Larry and Renzi's sister, Ginny and her husband Dave! We will leave D.C. Wednesday and take a train to Boston for the rest of the week. We will keep you posted!

I'm a blogger now!

Well, after reading friends blogs for a year now, I have decided to finally become a "blogger." Since so many of our friends and family live far away, I figured this was a good way for those close to us to see what is happening in Jackson's daily life! So.......here we go! Wish me luck!
